Uh oh, looks like someone walked in on this pup having some fun with a pillow and treats! I don't think his master is very happy with him, and he knows that he's done wrong. Poor thing =P
I just love doing these drawings of dogs and their different behaviors. I wanted to try my hand at a great dane this time, instead of something more common ^.^
Will be in the art show at Anthrocon 2011!

Oh man, Danes. They're smarter than your average dog, that's for sure.
One of ours has gone about actually observing human behaviour - he figured out that grinning effectively defused any trouble he was in. You can't help but laugh at the gormless jowly smiling of a 200-pound Dane, after all.

This is cute, but from what I've read about dogs, this expression does not mean "guilt".
It's actually a submissive posture and they are trying to appease an owner who seems to think they did something wrong. I've heard that dogs don't actually have a concept of guilt, so if one dog does this and others do not, it doesn't mean this dog is guilty, it just means this dog is more submissive or expresses it more strongly.
I'm not a dog behavior expert myself, mind ya, I've just heard this from some who are.
