In my fictional world I like to think of necromancy in particular as drawing on both life and death, since it often involves bringing dead things back to life, or a semblance of it. Plus I like to think of undeath as just a different but just as legitimate form of life, and not something unnatural. For instance, the Wood Walker, a deity that created therianthropy (werewolves and the like), sometimes grants their children immortality through undeath, or even bestows the gift of beast blood post-mortem, resurrecting a person as an undead werebeast. That's actually something that has real life folklore precedent - Pricolici from Romanian folklore are undead creatures that are kind of a mix between a vampire and a werewolf.
Oh, that's neat! After all, death is the beginning of a new life for many among those who believe in some kind of afterlife. So, why not undeath? Also, I like to imagine undead people with a moral agency, instead of simple tools for evil schemes. I guess I was inspired by the Forsaken from Warcraft in that regard.
I also really enjoy your concept of nature-themed undead. Like the ones with beast skulls for heads.
I might have read about the pricolici in some book I read about creatures from various folktales (mostly focusing on Europe though). But I'm not sure. Either way, thank you for sharing this knowledge with me. I love discovering more about that kind of stuff!

I really like seeing non-evil undead in various media. In my own setting, so far I have only discussed the Kadar people, who are undead constructs created by an underworld deity. I am yet to give them a dedicated lore description and a species sheet, but I already have one named Kadar character - death speaker Bozhdara.
Plus there is also Grelza, who is not a Kadar, but an undead human. However, while not exactly evil, she isn't really good either. She is something like an amoral sociopath.

Yay, I remember those characters! While I like them both, it's Bozhdara that fascinates me the most. I guess there is something about undead constructs that really fascinates me. Either way, I'm looking forward for any potential lore descriptions you might write in the future!
