For some reason i find him very amusing creature
He is quite nice and cute. Combination of eastern dragon and cat has to be one of the mixes that was made in heavens - totally nice, fluffy and truly wonderful
Playfulness of a cat with a wisdom and magic of a dragon can make wonders and fill many with joy just looking at him
But the expression either tells me that something spooked him or suprised him.

You mentioned the playfulness of a cat... I wonder if rather than being spooked, the look is an intent stare because someone just out of sight is dangling some string or yarn to play with? :)
Hahaha... that would feed right into the feline aspect.
In reality, he's intensely staring down a potential threat and calculating his next move.
