Welcome back to another Gun Day Sunday! Sadly, I was not able to do what I wanted for this week and draw something that had to do with snakes for Chinese New Year. But, alas, I have been tremendously busy lately because of the holiday coming up. Anyway! 1911s. I don't care how much people say they are obsolete. They look cool. They shoot nice. And I would not want to be on the receiving end of one. Same with .22 guns, but that's a discussion for another day. This is the first time I have drawn this girl without her X95. Instead, she's on the handgun train with her Browning 1911 .380.

I don’t think I’ve seen a .380 1911.
Yeah I’ll be dead honest I’ve been getting more interested in 1911s last couple years that it’s reached my wishlist. And what made me go from “eh I don’t care” to “ooh, I want one, even a cheap one” is just reading about John Moses Browning in general

It is.
And also I think saying he was a good designer is an understatement, we are still using the Browning M2 machine gun like it’s brand new, on top of the fact we took the round he designed for it and put it into precision rifles. All while The civilian market is enjoying some of his work years later.
The dude is fricken fascinating.
And I only recently, like 1 and half years ago he lived in Utah, which is the sate I live in. Making a bit Fitting I’d only get more of interest in guns a few years moving here.

I like 1911s but I facepalm at the old guys who act like they're peak firearm-design and anything that uses polymer frames or 9mm are junk.
I'd like to get one someday, but I want one that's styled like the original design that was used in the World Wars. I'm not a fan of some of the modern makes where they try to make it "tacticool."

LOL I responded to someone on Reddit that my ideal 2011 is one that does away with all of the race gun look and make it look like a G.I. M1911A1. Especially a Stealth Arms Platypus base just to use Glock mags because 2011 mags are absurdly priced.
But, you're right. Those that talk down on the polymer framed Wonder 9s are plain wrong.
