Ages ago it seems (2007) I had a nice build on SL of a Corliss valved stationary steam engine. In this shot one can see I've started to install a lineshaft and overhead crane.
Ultimately the office would be filled with late 1800's office stuff, the shafts would be finished and be operational and the crane would be completed but be a bit different.
Torley Linden would at one point roll through here taking pictures. http://bloghud.com/id/6352/
Plans had been laid for a lineshaft powered lathe, drill press, mild steel saw and air compressor but those never were built.
It would be interesting to see what this looks like with the most current SL client with proper reflectivity and shadows.

Yes, the engine itself was entirely of my creation, all textures and objects. As was the Westinghouse #3 alternator you see right next to it. The building itself while the structure was mine, the brick texture and floor texture were freebies.
