No offense, but I'm not sure if I like these changes. Part of me thinks she looks a little too similar to Abby now. I actually liked how her original design combined Rick's markings with Abby's fur colors, making it easy to tell she was their daughter at a glance. This redesign almost looks more like she could be Abby's twin. Also, what do you mean by Abby's replacement? Even if you're phasing the older characters out, it's not like they won't still be around.

i won't be drawing abby and rick anymore. I loved abby very much and her design. it hurts not to be able to draw her anymore. And with this mix, her daughter can have the best of both.
She didn't really have Abby's color. She was a darker red. If I had left her like that, she wouldn't have had any of her at all.

I can understand if you don't like it. But this way I can recognize Abby in her.

She has her own color. Rick's face markings and Abby's tail tip and 2 little hearts on her bottom.
Abby had one on her face, but a more subtle pallor. They certainly look different enough. But you can tell who Akane is descended from and that was important to me.

I actually didn't notice most of the other changes until you mentioned them just now. Looking at both designs again, I think the change you made to the tail markings is the biggest issue I have with this redesign. Akane was the only daughter of Abby and Rick with her father's tail pattern, which set her apart from the other kits. All of the other females (in both litters) had Abby's tail pattern, so changing Akane to also have it results in her being harder to tell apart from the others than before.

Regarding Abby and Rick, you can still draw them if you want. I'm not sure why you feel like you can't. I assumed you just wanted to draw new characters to avoid getting bored of the old ones, but nothing is stopping you from revisiting them. They're your characters after all.

She has her father's eyes + the facial markings.
She only has the tip of her tail and the heart from her mother.
The other daughter I will also be showing more often is Riki. She has her father's tail marking. If Akane had the same, they would look too similar.

And I need a high recognition value for myself. That Akane is a good mix of Abby and Rick that I can live with. ( besides, that light-colored tail is very fox-like )

Of course I can draw Abby and Rick whenever I want. But a lot has happened and I want to put this chapter behind me.

The fans are not able to distinguish between canon and non-canon and would always think that the things that happened, happened. And if I just replace Rick, the fans will think that's stupid too.

besides, why redraw them? most of them died in the story. @.@

Zuri was saved by Damian, while he himself died. Zuri and Yuke are still alive and have already grown up. ^^
