Asim and Josh: Colleagues in Rubber
Once he had grown used to spending time in the abode run by Ceds, Josh was surprised to find one of the master bear's butlers had asked to serve both him and Holt specifically interchangeably with serving Ceds himself, but it made things notably easier for the polar bear and lion to take care of daily business or routines. Then, when Holt stepped away to take care of some important business, the butler made himself known better as Asim, an old friend and colleague of both during their hero league days who had gone rogue and began working for/with Cedric against the league. A fact that added to the polar bear's peace of mind, knowing he has another friend working to make things better for everyone. Even if the jackal seems quite intent on prioritizing Josh and Holt above all else, except maybe Master Cedric... Maybe.
What may this lead to? Only time will tell!
Little bit of fanart I got some time ago, but waited until Convergence had properly wrapped up, so now here it is!

As am I, but not if they come with emotional baggage or trauma for the character. That's why mine, if they do have any of that, it comes before the suit or influences it, not that the suit is what brings the baggage to the table. Usually. In some cases, it does, like with Valyran!
Yes, but we can understand the pain Josh went through and know that him leaving the costume behind means he had improved. Because he experienced something some of us can understand, and some of us can relate to. It makes him feel more human rather than an impossible emotionless statue to put on a pedestal because of the costume looking cool.
Oh yeah? A lot like Isaac and a number of other characters I've got. See how trauma can be used to fuel decisions in a specific direction? Be it good or bad.

You can though, it doesn't take relatability to see what pain the costume brought him.
You see? You made it work with two of your characters. It shouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to accept that people deal with these things in different ways.
Coast Guardian. Former/retired military who got a new line of work as a corporate funded superhero thanks to connections.

Yeah, an identity forced onto him that led to nothing but pain, misery, and now the notion of betrayal by someone in a position of power he trusted. It represents his ideals being twisted to become an emotionless soldier who acted to meet a quota of captured criminals or villains instead of genuinely protecting people in all the ways that matter, and the things his superior was willing to do to make that happen.
Trauma is still trauma. You may dislike how other people utilize and present it, but it is still the same thing and tends to have the same effects on people. By applying it to your characters, you understand how it may affect them. So I find it weird why you would rather someone hold onto that trauma for the sake of looking cool or appealing.

Indeed, PTSD doesn't go away. And so noted regarding your characters, but it confuses me. You say this for your characters but want someone else's to reassume the mantle that brought their trauma, pain, misery, and so forth again... It's quite selfish and honestly lacking basic humanity and empathy. I'm genuinely concerned by that fact with you.
*Josh.
And nobody did. You just assume they did because you have a one-dimensional view of heroes and villains. Even now, you see Josh as nothing more than a statue on a pedestal. Holt didn't lose his identity or any part of himself. Josh didn't. Obsidian didn't. The Guardians didn't. Nobody did.
I'm ending the conversation here anyhow. It's gone on long enough.
