The surface is completely infested. Those few who remain live in deep caves and subterranean outposts. This ewe laborer was forced to flee her home as her entire outpost was overrun by... those things. She reached an abandoned outpost, but it looks like it's not so abandoned after all. She should probably run. Fighting that thing with a crowbar is not going to work. Even if she doesn't get torn to shreds, the physical contact will cause her to turn into one of them.
I got this story idea from playing Minecraft with the Flesh that Hates mod, which in turn is based off of SCP-610. I also love body-horror creatures like The Thing, so I drew inspiration from that too.
