My birthday art for this year, featuring as always my main OC Luthien. n_n Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes and lovely comments on my journal the other day! ♥
I do at least one good portrait of Luthien every year, around my birthday, just to make sure she gets the spotlight and also to kinda mark where I am as an artist. I go all in on all the elements I love most in my art, so all the pretty forest scenery and art nouveau and elvish magic I can squeeze in. Its not an indulgence I get very often but it feels really good when I do, I put on my music and just zone out for a few hours. It reminds me of what drawing used to feel like before it became my job.
For this one, I got to really take my new paint pens for a spin. I'm still working out certain styles and techniques and seeing which pens work better when layered over others, but so far I'm really feeling more free with what I am able to do because of them. I'd like to do more close studies on the Sleeping Beauty forest scenes (which are a huge inspiration for me) just to fill out my mental databank of designs, things like trees, bushes, shrubs etc. As with all things, practice makes perfect - more nudes in forest settings please! :3

This turned out amazing! I love the forest background. You've always done amazing nature scenes, and I love the mystical touch with the tree "throne" Luthien is seated on, and the colorful purple and pink trees behind her. Plus all the various vines and leaves and things growing around her and hanging from the trees are so lovely. Luthien herself looks absolutely gorgeous as well. Her leafy dress and the jewels on her feet and ankles are so pretty, and look so elegant, as does the green sash draped all around her. It's so nice to see her again, too and I'm so glad you got to just relax and have fun with this. Luthien is still one of my very favorite characters and scenes like this are where your art really shines. Great work all around!
