I felt strange when drawing this. Somewhat, I felt it was true, but yet I never act in my own artworks. However, some people treat me like an "actor-starving-for-attention" or a DramaQueen because I show my emotions alot and they think I am just an attention hog...So, I did this drawing.
I did this when I reliezed that many people look at someone that is depressed or troubles, and only think that it is an act to get peoples attention, become the center of attention most likely. I feel that this is not true. When someone is depressed or behaving in a distant or quiet way, or maybe in a loud and somewhat violent way, that are not putting on an act. They are showing others how they feel instead of keeping it locked up inside. Having your feelings locked up inside does terrible things to your body and your mind. When you do let it out, many would think that you are just acting out just to get attention.
This also goes with friends. Who can you tell who is your real friend or false friend from both sides:
- If you see your friend behaving in a manner that seems low and depressed and "performs" some things infront of you, whould you think that it is an act or a way of saying "Please Help Me"?
- If you are down and depressed infront of your, or angry and verbal, would your frined think that your physical expressions is a dance to just watch and ignore, or would he think that you are just expressing yourself in a physical manner and it is easier for you to say "Please Help Me" rather than speaking it?
Alot of people show their emotions differently. Some speak it without acting, some just rightout show it, and many do both. Sometimes our message comes out wrong to others even though you do not mean to hurt anyone. Everyone takes your actions and speech differently. Its hard to find the right person to talk to because a lot of people just want to tell you to "Grow the fu¢k up"...

well it's very true. in society there is allot of stigma against empathy. all animals (including humans) have empathy for one another.
Our society usualy teached us to be less empathetic and to think more for our selfs. this is especially true for men who at very young ages are taught it is wrong to show emotion, and as a result do not show the prerequisite emotion needed to empathize with others.

You're scary depressed. o.o I usually can't handle you for that reason. I do look occasionally though. Would never think you're attention starved. I think depression is an act of saying "please help me", not just an act of getting attention. You want them to pay attention, and help as well, not just point and stare. Many people don't know how to help though, so they blame their own inaction on you by claiming you want them to sit there helplessly pointing and staring, when it's not true at all.
Some people do act like that to get attention, to feel better about themselves. It's made others a bit jaded and cynical about people who let out their emotions all over the internet. There's a reason the term "Drama Queen" is used.
But hey, don't worry. We've all got a little emo in us, and sometimes it's best to let it out. Besides, your art doesn't strike me as an "act". Just as someone trying to work through complex emotions by using his art and prose.
You're open and honest. Can't really fault you for that.

My apologies for a rather shoddy comment that does not do this pic (or rather, its message) justice...but to say you've struck the very chord that has been strumming within me these past few days is an understatement. Over something that honestly causes me emotional grief, despite it being something that, to the average person, would just seem like I'm being really lazy and whiny...but I digress.
Bravo, good sir.

Oh, I hate when poeple pick on those who are already down... usually labelling them "emo" and then yelling at them... sure, like being mean to someone is really going to stop them from being depressed... *sigh*. If someone has to go to drastic means to get attention, maybe it speaks more about other poeple's non-caring attitude than the person...
Oh so true...depression is often dismissed and ignored by oh so many people...I myself was once depressed and didn't know what was happening to me or why I was feeling so sad. Hiding in the bathroom during class and crying was a reoccurring event back then. Eventually someone noticed and help me to express these feelings...which I am sad to say my feelings are all locked away...sheltured from harm but I don't let it show. Though recently someone dear to my has melted away some of the ice around my heart and frankly it kinda scared me but I understand and I love her even more now because of it.
But that was all besides the point. The point is not really even a point but a helping hand and a heart felt smile can make a world of difference to anyone. So...I say to you ... YOU CAN DO IT don't let anyone stop you. Push foward and make yourself happy :)

i have one friend...who seems to kind of overplay things some times...she tries very hard to get peoples attention...but i have learned to be patient with her...all she really wants is help, shes just too damn stubborn to ask for any, even when i try to talk to her or cheer her up.
as for myself...i tend to be quieter when i am depressed...these past few days in school when thought have become too much, i simply retreated to the bathroom until i was able to face the world without a tear again. i dont like people to see me cry...

Depression is a cry for help, or love. It's not trying to be an attention whore, since, msot the time it happens once someones been ousted from their friends or the like.
It's a sign that you're hurting and in the way you need help from others. Being told to "suck it up" only hurts the person more.
