ALT TEXT: Digital painting. Two anthropomorphic german shepherd cops in blue uniforms push an anthro coyote prisoner in orange garb with brown belt into a brightly lit building interior while the coyote yells frantically over his right shoulder. Two more cops stand guard in front, as if their presence mattered in any way whatsoever, but really to accentuate a display of force. The cops faces are disfigured with the marks of blue dog skulls and red marks especially around the eyes and earpieces. One cop name plate reads "FORTY%", referencing a popular study on a conservative estimate of frequency that US police officers carry out domestic violence. The back of another cop uniform shows "SHEP-" before being cut off by another officer. Concentric uneven circles displace the art the further they stray from the coyote. Detailed lightly coloured scratches are seen behind the coyote, but few of them break the silhouettes of the cops.

Whoo gosh dang, you had me in the first half ngl
The piece is fantastic, (and not based only on my biased as a fellow yote). It took a lot to get through that post, it's so powerful, and I sincerely hope it reaches new eyes that may be ignorant of what's been transpiring in the US for decades, and now more than ever.
I'm unsure if I could fully express my current thoughts and fears in any tangible way, but you've made me feel so inspired, I think want to try.

Remember, people, we still don't know if it was actually Luigi that did it. As far as I'm concerned, he was framed and all the media attention surrounding the notion that it was him only serves to fetishize and romanticize a man that, for all intensive purposes, is innocent until proven guilty. None of us are immune to copaganda.
With that statement out of the way, though, to comment on the actual visual artwork itself rather than any political commentary... I do enjoy the composition of this piece and the way that the shepherds' faces are portrayed as distorted. The texturing, detail and focus point captures a lot of emotion and delivers a strong message. Also love the use of colour here.

Thanks for highlighting this. I had a handful of artist statements that focused more on healthcare, that it's still only alleged, that his politics sucked, that he shouldn't be deified, and that you can't just rogue homicide your way out of capitalism. I implied some of this in the artist statement itself, but it's not obvious at all.
Thanks for the that and the kind words on the art. I appreciate both sentiments very much. <3

Thank you for pointing out the deification. It always bugs me when people jump to such extremes around people like this. All I can hope for is that he gets a fair treatment and is allowed to return to a normal life after all this chaos resolves itself, if it ever will.
Of course! Art is a form of journalism, after all, and this is a powerful piece /gen /srs.

Not only is the pic an amazing one, but your statement is also ... I dont have a word for it. Damning, sarcastic, sad. Very real.
I also am one of those who grew up being told the police are my friends, and still think there are good police, but know that there are bad ones, too. That, for the last 40 years, the police have been getting more militarized. Once, police agencies were racist. Now, they seem to be that and becoming more and more prone to violence since they have the tools to do that.
Words escape me

Shared this and the artist comment to the Facebook group "Animals in Art through History." Folks there tend to lean right, and don't like their cage rattled much. So I thought I would rattle it a little. Thank you for creating this and reminding people that Furry Art is more than just pin-ups.
I have a question since you seem well spoken on these issues.
I have some friends who just keep going "Not all cops!!" and are stubborn as hell with it. I've tried explaining the system is rotten and it is *in fact* all cops. What do you usually respond to people who refuse to acknowledge ACAB?

When someone is thinking of a "good cop", what probably really thinking of are good experiences they associate to protect their own belief in a fallen system. A cop you saw or heard "being good" doesn't mean it's real. It doesn't mean that cop calls out corruption every time. What are they going to do, magically side against the ruling class while a cop?
Say your friend saw me pick up my kids every day from school, and I waved warmly to them. I even shared a few beers. They would think I'm a good guy. What if I get drunk and abuse my kids regularly, and I'm good at hiding it from your friend? Your friends would 100% think I'm a good dad. They'd have to check in with my kids or my family before they notice anything. Does the 4 neutral-to-nice cop interactions I had invalidate the point, or is it possible those 4 "good" cops either do bad things directly or let bad things happen in an institution we have proof of?
It's especially unfortunate for your friends, in this case. Not only are they ignorant (or bigoted if it's not in good faith) to the reality of the police, I personally wouldn't trust their judgement to friend groups of vulnerable people. If they're okay with the police, would they narc on a trans person for doing DIY HRT when that is illegal? What about swapping unused prescriptions because of all the shortages? And if they won't narc, does that mean they'd stop a cop from preventing those basic needs being met? What's the most important thing to your friend? Upholding this arbitrary law that kills people anyway?
But let's give them the benefit of the doubt. Show your friends a Kerner Commission summary. Teach them about the Blue Wall of Silence. How would your friend spot the corruption this normalizes? Are they personally gonna monitor said "good cop?" Are they gonna sponsor a commission? No, they just like the idea of thinking they're bringing nuance to a centuries old tale for black and indigenous people. Sorry that your friends fell for the copaganda, but again, Idunno how good of friends they can be if they do that in 2025.

A very direct question that's worth asking, if they will just throw all the victims of capitalism under the bus for the sake of not-all-cops-ing, why exactly are they your friends? Because they're nice to you? Why don't they believe you when you share your concerns? Because they can disagree, but they can't offer anything substantial to your concerns. Doesn't sound like something a friend would do, does it?
