It's no secret that Dawn will find any excuse to slip away to her favorite secluded waterfall hideaway near her mountain home. Though technically February is still mid-winter, especially in the mountains, this weekend had the good fortune of being unseasonably warm.
As soon as she saw the forecast called for "above room temperature" sunny weather, Dawn had her bags packed and her weekend booked to return to the mountains.
She knew the falls would be frigid, mostly from fresh snowmelt. That wasn't going to be a deterrent though. "Ice baths are supposed to be good for you" she would reassure herself. "Besides, the cabin has hot water, I can always take a hot shower to warm up after". The one benefit to going at this time of year is that the water levels were substantially higher -- the falls thick and the current steady.
For Dawn, there is nothing more enthralling than the roar of running water surrounded by lush green vegetation of untampered nature. Free from the touch of civilization, this place would always be her sanctuary to get away from the stresses of modern life, and she adored nothing more than to let herself be one-with-nature here. There was nothing more blissfully zen than to submerge herself... even if just temporary in the icy-cold falls.
Dawn had her mission planned form the minute she arrived in the mountains. She didn't bother to even unpack. She immediately shed her clothes, changed into her swimsuit, and made the short walk through the woods toward the falls. It was exactly as she expected. Crystal clear water cascading down and overflowing the banks. The newly melted snow was as clean and pure as it could possibly get.
Dawn didn't need any extra convincing. Her body carried her across the stones to a position under the falls, a perfect spot to baptize herself in the purity of this natural wonder. The chill cut through all the layers of her winter coat, icing her core. It was exhilarating.

I like this girl's style. Personally, I'm somewhat more inclined to wait for it to get properly warm before taking any outdoor showers, but she makes it sound very enticing indeed. And she's such a lucky girl to have such a beautiful place she can go to get away for a while, too. It does look like a really good place to just be for a while.
