A sock to draw the coyote's interest and ensure he's thoroughly distracted by the scent, and then there's those ankle socks which might be quite easily slipped off the coyote's feet, the scent being a familiar one but perhaps still enticing and in any case can further distract him. Then just slowly and quietly sneak in a hand and ensure he doesn't have any realisation what's coming until he feels the gentle scribbling of claws over the pads of his toes.
