Chapter 2: Eyes to Eyes
I woke up only a few minutes later, only needing that much rest from our fun. I saw Ryk already passed out between my mounds, smiling softly and letting out a giggle. Of course, I knew we couldn't stay like this forever, We’d have to get back. I carefully laid Ryk down on the grass before I shrunk back down. I then also started to put my clothes back on as well as his. “I don't think taking the bus would be a good idea considering people could mistake him for being something other than asleep…” I thought to myself. I then pulled out my phone and called an Uber, the idea being I could use the “He’s drunk” excuse. I lifted Ryk into my arms, carrying him bridal style. I couldn’t help but smile softly at how peaceful he looked… More So how adorable he was. “You’re just too adorable, ya dork…” I thought to myself as I carried him to where I was to meet my ride. Minutes later, the driver showed up in a Silver Corolla. I hopped into the back, though having to adjust myself due to how tall I was. “What with the little guy?” The driver asked. “One drink too many.” I replied, giggling as I laid him across my lap. The driver sighed and shook his head, sharing a chuckle. “Boys…” He then drove us back to the campus.
Once we arrived, Ryk hadn’t woken up yet. I decided to head towards one of the two dormitories on campus. I was housed in one mainly filled with athletes and higher individuals. I scanned my FOB key and headed in, the female student at the desk looking at me carrying Ryk. “What’s with him?” She asked with a slightly perked eyebrow. “He passed out while drinking.” I said, acting embarrassed. He just nodded and didn’t ask anything further as I turned to my right, calling for an elevator to the 3rd Floor. One short ride later, I headed to my dorm which was 304. Luckily I lived alone per my request as I headed inside, laying him on the couch. I sat in the swivel chair across from him… He looked so calm while he rested. I couldn’t help but smile a little too. “Why do you have to be so adorable... Even when you’re not awake?” I say to myself, only to get up and lay down on the couch, pulling him into a cuddle… I could hear his soft breaths and his slowed pulse… Calming me down just as well as my eyes felt heavy, soon closing them as I sleepily cuddled the folf in my arms.
…From Ryk’s eyes:
When I finally came to, I found myself in a room I didn’t recognize and on a couch, not to mention Kaname wrapped around my body, snoozing. I could only make a flustered squeak and blush heavily as I realized my situation: This was her place, a dorm most likely. I didn’t try to get up or anything however, instead choosing to return the favor and wrap my own arms and tail around her. She let out what seemed to be a bunny version of a purr as I did so, nuzzling into my arm. I sighed softly with a smile, stroking her head softly. “Heh… Cute.~” I said to myself as I continued my affectionate actions.
After a few more minutes, she slowly stirred awake. She looked up at me with a faint blush. “Mmn… Hey, Ryk.” She said before yawning as she slowly got off of me. “Did you sleep okay?” I nodded back with a smile. “Yeah, I did, thanks. Where am I?”
“Oh, I brought you to my dorm… Hope that was okay with you.” She said, rubbing the back of her neck with a slightly heavier blush. “I’m okay with it…” I said as I sat up to stretch before hearing a ping coming from my phone. It was a text from Aaron. I took some time to read over it, the beginning seeming to be a check up and all before letting us know that he overheard the girl’s soccer team talking about something in regards to Kaname… And not on a good note either. Something about payback… Kaname read over my shoulder, letting her as she should be in the know too. I then replied back with:
“What should we do in the meantime? Did you know where they are now?” His reply was:
“I think they headed inside where the coach’s office is.” It didn’t take myself and Kaname to realize what they were going to do, they were planning to report it to the coach and then have the coach take a side blindly. “You should probably get over there while you can. I have a feeling this won’t turn out well.” I looked at Kaname as she looked a bit scared but nodded as if to agree. “On my way.” Is what I quick replied with as we headed out the door, racing down the hall and using the stairs. We then sped walked out the lobby and out the door. The only issue is that a busy road was the border between the dorms and the campus, having to use a crosswalk signal. Kaname tapped her paw rapidly out of anxiety. I then took one of her hands into mine and squeezed to try and soothe her. She looked at me before looking down slightly. “Thanks…” I nodded in response before the signal told us we could cross, legging it from there onto the campus and en route to the coach’s office. It wasn’t far, just a straight shot by about 500 feet. I hoped that we weren’t too late and there was less damage than what worse case scenario could be in store.
We finally arrived at the gym where the coach’s office would be, essentially bursting through the double doors. We then sprinted down the hall till we found the coach's office and opened the door to find all the players involved in the incident prior. It stayed silent before Kaname spoke up. “What are you guys doing here?” She said with a stern look, a mix of disgust in there too. “Oh look who showed up! The freak!” One perked up as the others laughed. Kaname looked like she was about to lunge before I put an arm across to prevent her doing so. “Don’t, they’re just trying to get a rise out of you.” I said. The coach in her chair turned to us, a Kangaroo in her early 30s with short brown hair and emerald green eyes. “Ryk Azeri, I take it? I’m assuming you were present at the incident.” She said, having a rather calm face. I nodded, “That’s correct.” She then gestured to me to sit down. “Girls, can we have a moment?” They protested for a few seconds before finally piling out of the office, closing the door with just me, Kaname and the coach. No doubt the team was eavesdropping behind the door but we didn’t care about that, what mattered was the getting truth from the lies now. “So from what I was told from them, rather melodramatically too, was that Kaname intimidated the team by… ‘Becoming a giant’. I want your side, both of you.” I silently breathed a sigh of relief as well as Kaname, knowing she waited for us to show up and tell our side. “Kaname was being teased and overstimulated when we exited the cardio room together. The childish teasing about being in a relationship kind of thing. She didn’t hurt them but she did grow a little, probably because she couldn’t take it anymore. I was able to calm her down and exit the area without further incident.” I calmly explained while Kaname held my hand. The coach listened to every word we said, nodding. “Well that matches up with what they said except for a couple things. They said that Kaname attempted to stomp them. I did request a security member to fetch the video footage.” She said, seeming to be on our side for the time being. “It’s strange that they would only report it now too… Right before I was about to call you, Kaname, some great news.” Kaname perked up, looking a bit surprised. “Great news…?” The coach nodded and gestured to lean in so she could whisper it. “You got a scholarship to one of the best academies in the world.” She froze for a few moments to absorb the information. Heard it too but that was only because I had leaned in too, being a bit curious myself. “Y-You mean Mount Titan?” She said, getting a nod in response. “The headmaster is on her way to meet you personally. Best of all, she offered you a plus one to go with you, another scholarship so to speak.” She sat for a few seconds completely still before tears swelled up in her eyes… Tears of joy. From what I heard myself, Mount Titan Academy was one of the most elite universities or academies in the entire world. Barely anyone ever gets in. The chances of getting in were like the lottery, so getting a scholarship was a huge deal… Even more so two. Kaname tried to hold back from sobbing with joy, wiping her tears and smiling. “A-And a plus one…?” She then turned to me… I knew what she was going to ask. I could only smile softly and nod, seemingly accepting. It’s only been one day and I was going to be a student along Kaname in one of the best academies the world had. “Only thing is we have to sort this current situation at hand. I don’t want to have to say ‘But this student is prone to lashing out’ to the headmaster.” Just then the door opened as a security member came in, holding a tablet. “You won’t have to, take a look.” He said, apparently hearing the last sentence. The coach reviewed the footage, audio and all. It lined up exactly with our story, and didn’t support the added claims of the team outside. “I knew something was fishy the moment the dramatics came in.” Myself and Kaname couldn’t help but laugh a bit. After we had our giggles, Kaname perked up. “So what happens now?” The coach softly chuckled, “Oh, they’ll be punished for making a false report. As for you two, you should probably head outside and look for a black SUV. She’ll be here any moment.” We both nodded and got up. But Kaname turned to her coach… “Thank you… For everything.” The coach smiled, Kaname giving her a hug… Her tail wagging a bit behind her. I could help but to call her “Cute” in my head. We then headed out, much to the surprise of the flocked team outside… Boy were they in for an unpleasant surprise.
…From Kaname’s eyes:
The moment I heard I got a scholarship and a plus one in her office, I froze. It’s like I achieved some impossible feat I didn’t think I could. All I was, was a Cinderace with a huge skill in sports, soccer to be specific, and growth abilities. I didn’t think I’d be accepted after just a year attending here. But I guess it all paid off in the end… It was finally happening. Throw in the fact I could bring Ryk with me was the best part too. I didn’t have to leave the person I swiftly fell for… Ryk decided to call his mother about the news, in which I overheard a scream of joy on the other end along with him trying to convince her that it wasn’t a big deal and promising to share photos and write to her about it all. We only sat at the bench near the pickup lane outside the main entrance, waiting for the car to show up. Ryk leaned against me as I sighed happily, still soaking in the news. “Still hasn't it all hit yet?” He asked with a slight giggle, probably noticing my tail was still wagging. “Yeah… Still doesn’t feel real.”
“It probably will once the headmaster shows up.” I nodded in response with a smile. “Yeah, you’re probably right… I’m just glad you could come along with me.” He smiled. “Hey… Wanna know something?” I tilted my head before he held out his hand, suddenly illuminating with light as he twirled it once, having a fresh rose in hand. My eyes widened before I blush and giggled lightly. “Silly.~ Could’ve told me you had magical abilities too.” He handed me the rose before I realized something… He wasn’t scared I grew, and maybe that’s why: Because he had magical abilities just like me. Maybe we weren’t so different after all… “I wanted it to be a surprise.” He said with a little giggle as I sniffed the rose and sighed happily. “Ah, you dork.~” I said before pulling him close, giving him a soft noogie, in which he squeaked, squirmed and laughed at. I then perked up as I saw a black SUV… That seemed to be it. “Ryk, I think she’s here.” I said before standing up, him following suit before the vehicle stopped beside us.
Just then, a male Shiny Glaceon shy of six feet stepped out in what seemed to be military gear before going to the door on our side and opening it… A seven foot tall Luxray in a classy business suit in her early twenties stepped out and greeted us with a soft smile. “Are you Kaname Hikaru and Ryk Azeri?” We both nodded as the Glaceon joined her side. “Raijin Sparks, Mount Titian Academy headmaster. That’s my long time friend, Leon Akiyama.” Raijin extended a hand to me as Leon did with Ryk. “Nice to meet you, mate.” Leon said as he and Ryk shook hands, likewise with myself and Raijin. Just then, a few moving vans showed up with plenty of movers. “So, I’m guessing you’re surprised why I chose you for a scholarship, along with a plus one.” I nodded as she gestured to Leon to meet up at the dorms across the street and us to walk with her. “Your coach put in an application for you. She talked a lot about how you wanted to be at a good university, ours specifically. After reading it and looking at your backstory, I couldn’t help but give you a shot.” My face lit up a little, having one more reason to thank my coach. “I didn’t know she did that… Guess I have all the more reason to be thankful.” I said with a smile. “But why the plus one? It was just me…” She chuckled and patted my head, “There are some journeys you can’t go in alone. So I figured I’d also give a scholarship to whoever you chose to bring along. That way you’re never alone.” She smiled, as did I and Ryk. “That’s... Very kind of you. Thank you.” She nodded, “You’re welcome. We also sent a couple movers to Ryk’s place as well, in case his mother thought he needed a few extra things.”
“Let’s hope she doesn’t go overboard…” He said with a nervous chuckle as we giggled, crossing the street to reach the dormitory so we could begin moving.
There wasn’t much stuff to move on my own so everything was all packed and in the vans in just under an hour. I said my goodbyes to the people I knew there, a few of them I hugged. Ryk then called Aaron about the news as well. He was sad he wouldn’t be able to see him on campus but the two promised to keep in contact with each other. “I promise to send you a couple photos and such. …Eheheh, All right. See ya.” He hung up and regrouped with myself and Raijin. “Well then, shall we get going?” We both nodded, myself taking a breath after. Raijin put a hand onto my shoulder softly. “I know this is a big step… But know that myself, Leon and Ryk will all be here for you. Anything you need, we’ll give.” I nodded with a smile. “Thank you…” We headed in the same vehicle the headmaster came in, Raijin sitting on the left, me in the middle and Ryk on the right. “All strapped in back there?” Leon said to us from the passenger seat as we had someone else driving. We all affirmed as we were off, on our way to a new chapter in our lives… One I was both anxious but excited for.
