I honestly feel like shit.
It's like every time I feel inspired I won't get off my lazy ass and do something about it.
I get inspired all the time.
I either do nothing because it's "too hard" or because I'm afraid of failure or unoriginality.
And then I feel incredibly guilty for days.
My whole life's goal is to tell stories, whether it's writing, drawing graphic novels, animating, or making costumes.
But I won't do anything I feel so lazy!
I guess I set my standards too high and I feel like I'll never reach them so I just quit instead.
I have so much potentional but I just won't do anything with it.
Maybe I should stick to writing that way I don't have to feel insecure about my artwork.
EDIT: Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I feel a lot better. <3

Sometimes all you can do is try little things, but just because you have a big idea does not mean you cannot tackle it in little pieces. Originality is what we make of it, nothing is entirely original, its just a question about taking all what inspires you and combining ideas to make something new. Heck, think of it this way, if every single person was completely original, then there would be no commonality or even shared emotion.
Remember, when you are painting you paint emotion and ideas together, not apart; in the action of that creative effort you are always original. This piece seems wonderfully original because of that, there is an idea, and there is emotion.
Great work!

LET ME TELL YOU SOME ADVICE THAT HAS ALWAYS HELPED ME:
“What moves those of genius, what inspires their work is not new ideas, but their obsession with the idea that what has already been said is still not enough.”
-Eugene Delacroix
Trust me, you'll never get anything done if you worry about being "unoriginal." Who cares if someone else thought of it before? Do it your way!
And also, if you think something is "too hard," that just means it's something for you to learn!
What I like to do is, if I have something ambitious, I set a schedule for myself. It's helped me get a lot of stuff done.
Good luck!

I know exactly where you're coming from.
When I did my OT challenge, I knew I'd have to make some kind of decent backgrounds.. because that's what the challenge was all about.. pushing myself. I felt like crap, like I couldn't try anything because I knew I'd stink at backgrounds.. But I finally got the courage up and just tried it..
Now I love doing backgrounds, and they've helped me so much.
Steely, I know you can do it. But you gotta do it in your own time. I've been drawing since I was 5 and I never liked backgrounds.. it's taken me years to even put the effort into them.
Don't worry hon, and don't beat yourself up. You'll get there when you get there. Life was not meant to be rushed..
Love you hon, note me any time.
