Macaws are not as numerous as cockatiels, but their talent for magic is much higher. This is why such wizards are often promoted to archmages, which in turn gives them access to more powerful spells. As a more reliable weapon, archmages use a staff, which can also be used in close combat. Still, some of them prefer a quiet career as a teacher in the numerous academies of the Silver Cities (inspired by academy archmages from HoMM V).
