Ayn Rand loves rape
also dismembering small children
If you showed her face to a small child, that child would say PROTECT ME FROM THE BOOGIEMAN
I stole that joke from Aurelina
Have you ever noticed that Ayn Rand actually looks a lot like Meg Mucklebones from Legend?

OI! Good show...but it's sure to drag all the finest tea baggers out once again as per:

The really bad thing is they're pushing for the control of the 'kuntry'

Ayn Rand was a spoiled brat who never felt an ounce of gratititude toward any of the people who helped her from childhood to celebrityhood, nor felt grateful for the many astonishingly good breaks she had. As well, her mental universe was no different from any Czarist aristocrat's... she just changed all the words and made irresponsible selfishness a virtue. Gawd help us, though... she's been the most influential quack-philosopher in American politics of the last half-century. Her "objectivism" has dug the US into such a deep, dark pit, it may never emerge, certainly not emerge as its former self.
Opinions differ on Rand's writing. I found it stodgey and wooden, given to implausible speecifyin' at odd moments. Nor do I think she has grasp of character. She can project a certain sort of Nietschean hero, and concoct a melodrama villain, but what else? I found her knowledge of everything but political philosophy to be oddly limited.
Yet I know intelligent people who claim she writes well, and presents her ideas effectively.
One thing for sure. She *can* literally write. And get published. And create monsters like Alan Greenspan.

Anyone who believes in democratic, permissive society is somewhat of a libertarian. But they aren't necessarily a caveat-emptor Objectivist who believes the government (the public in other words) has no legitimate role in human affairs, not even to keep arsenic out of the water table or arrest highway speeders. That sort of Libertarian is merely a feudal aristocrat when the fancy words are stripped away. Howard Rowrk and John Galt believed they were special, superior people whose needs and views superceeded everyone elses, and could use ordinary peasant however they wanted. Rand herself was little better than a residue of Czarist aristocracy. Yes, she was Jewish and technically repressed by the state, but she came from a well-to-do family that managed to avoid the worst of anti-semitism in Russia. She successfully completed school all the while the Marxist were rounding up Jews and putting them in work camps. Then she successfully emmigrated from Russia though most Jews were forbidden. She had family to support her in America as well, and got a lucky break in Hollywood. So she has been very lucky as things go, and never developed any concept of society that a Russian duke of the 19th. century wouldn't have embraced.
But there are legitimate issues for small "l" libertarianism. The state *is* too intrusive... but usually where it shouldn't be, like pot-smoking or pornography or questionable political opinions, but not remotely intrusive enough in environmental or financial issues. The state encourages all sorts of collective ownership -- not public ownership, though... corporate ownership. Unfortuantely, big "L" libertarians tend to side with the state on these things, not with ordinary people.

I remember hearing an interview of hers on the radio and her statements about the nature of love and human dignity, and frankly just her voice, made me feel like I was listening to Satan on the radio. I'm not very religious, but it was deeply unsettling to be told there is no such thing as human dignity
Rand rises from her grave for the worst reasons. She didn't even bother to call out her followers for taking her books as gospel instead of following their own beliefs like they were supposed to! Rape doesn't instill a sense of free will in anybody!
We need to pour an extra layer of concrete over her coffin next time.
