A Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) looks longingly at a floating toy in a pool at the Australia Zoo.
When I was visiting the Australia Zoo a tiger presentation was held every day much like that in the Crocoseum. Hosts would enter the enclosure with the tigers, which were hand-raised to feel comfortable around people and encouraged to perform fun activities to demonstrate their power and natural abilities. It is all part of the Australia Zoo's enrichment program that encourage the animals to be active and happy.
The tigers were also given toys to play with if the mood struck them. Trainers would run with the tigers, encouraging them to chase certain toys before throwing the objects in a pool in an attempt to get the big cats to leap spectacularly into the water. However, this gorgeous girl didn't really feel up to it and stayed by the waters edge watching toys float just out of reach. All the better for her siblings though who claimed the toys for their own.

Haha, this is adorable. My dog, Charlie, used to do this a lot when he would lay at the edge of our pool. Somehow he always managed to drop his toy and it would float away, too far to reach but not far enough where he would want to get back in.
You make this zoo sound better and better with each photo, and the quality of your shots is fantastic. I'd really like to go visit there someday, now. =)
