The defeated Renamon fails to digivolve!

As technology advances in the modern world, humanity unknowingly strengthens their connection to the Digital World, a realm inhabited by Digimon—digital monsters who live and evolve through the phenomenon of Digivolution. While Digimon live in various areas, most spend time in a place known as Cyberspace, where the Digital World directly intersects with Earth’s digital networks. Cyberspace is divided into multiple servers for Digimon activities, such as chatting, playing games, and watching Earth videos together. However, one server stands out and is only known by one name: The Rumble Arena. It is one of the more popular servers where Digimon gather and fight to digivolve while spectators watch exciting battles. Daily tournaments are hosted where any Digimon are allowed to fight as long as they are Rookie-level or higher. Most tournaments are filled with Rookies and Champions coming to test their skills for a hard-earned victory. One such Rookie was preparing herself for such a battle.

Despite her unique appearance, Renamon shared the same innate ambition as other Rookies: to digivolve. Digivolution is the driving force behind every Digimon’s existence, but Renamon also yearned for respect and friendship from her peers. Her calm and collected attitude was often mistaken for being “cold” and “emotionless”, making others hesitant to approach her. Unable to clear up the misunderstanding, Renamon eventually started attending the Rumble Arena, believing everyone would respect her if she was strong enough to digivolve. She easily won a few tournaments given her superior capabilities, but still, nobody seemed to acknowledge her. The yellow kitsune was feeling discouraged but decided to enter one more tournament. She made quick work of her opponents in the early rounds like usual, but she started hearing about another fighter who was blazing through the competition in their bracket. It was possible Renamon might have a challenge this time, but she was determined to win no matter what. After a few more battles, it was time for the final match of the whole tournament.

She stepped into the arena, waiting and curious about her opponent, who supposedly demolished the competition. Eventually, her final contender entered the arena…and it was a friendly-looking Guilmon who stood before her! The red dinosaur looked rather naive as he smiled at Renamon, clearly having innocent fun with the tournament. However, Renamon knew she could not underestimate him since his species is known to have superb combat potential, rivaling Ultimate-level Digimon at such a low level. Plus, the match was being streamed to other Digimon in Cyberspace, so Renamon really wanted to win in order to impress her peers. Regardless, Guilmon eagerly got into a fighting stance while Renamon did the same. The arena was silent for a while…until the ringing of the bell caused the two finalists to clash!

Being faster, Renamon dashed towards Guilmon with a kick straight into his stomach! The dinosaur coughed as he slid back from the hit, allowing the kitsune to continue with a palm strike into the face, making him tumble onto the ground. At first, this seemed like another easy win for Renamon…until a focused Guilmon slowly got up. Before she could react, Guilmon lunged towards her with a fire-laced punch into the gut, causing her to gasp in pain! After getting an uppercut straight into her jaw, she was sent into the air and crashed back down. This was the most damage Renamon had taken in any tournament! As she returned to the fight, it soon became a war of attrition! Renamon’s precise strikes continuously clashed with Guilmon’s heavy punches. Neither of them moved an inch, but Renamon’s calm demeanor slowly became emotional determination, yelling behind every attack just like Guilmon! Finally, it came down to one final attack as both fighters rushed into range. As soon as they closed the gap, Renamon unleashed a powerful-looking punch shrouded in white flames…but Guilmon dodged and countered with a fiery uppercut straight into her core! With a pained shout, Renamon clutched her stomach…and collapsed onto her knees, eventually crumpling to the ground before Guilmon’s feet. As cheers filled the arena, one could see the pained and frustrated expression on Renamon’s face, gritting her teeth with what little consciousness she had left. She was in disbelief…losing when she was so close to making friends…but in the end, she failed to digivolve and was defeated. As her body went limp, her frustrated thoughts soon faded into unconsciousness…relaxing her expression into to a forced rest.

Eventually, the defeated Renamon slowly stirred awake with a groan. As she sat up from the floor, she saw the arena was empty. She sighed with a hurt heart, thinking that she lost her only chance to make friends. Thankfully, she was immediately proved wrong as Guilmon and a few Digimon from the audience entered the empty arena. They approached her with snacks and drinks, and Guilmon particularly offered bread to her. It turned out that seeing Renamon genuinely try her best in the battle resonated with a lot of Digimon! Guilmon even gave her a big hug and called her “friend” before eating some food! Renamon could not help herself from being overwhelmed, but she let out a smile as she joined in. At the end of the day, Renamon got what she wanted and finally had friends to understand her.
