Portrait of a Zombe
Meet Fredrick Charles Labuschagne. He’s just your humble shop-owner known for selling knickknacks and antiques. The strange part is, the shop is located in a town in the middle of one of Louisiana’s bayous (South of the I10 Interstate and north of the Southern Baptist Church) home to a majority population of, you guessed it, American Alligators.
Gator-Town as it has known to be called by outsiders has a population of just that of 258 individuals. This town is only accessible by a long, narrow muddy road (and an assortment of wooden bridges) which begins at the closest town of Lafayette. Given this towns’ isolated surroundings and troubled history, it’s no wonder it’s a tourist attraction. Making up 23% of Louisiana’s revenue income.
That being said, Fredrick’s shop is always open 24/7 to all, as long as you are willing to pay, and don’t wonder into the basement just down the hall, past the bathrooms and around the corner next to the expired fire-extinguisher…
