Long ago, in a quiet village nestled at the edge of an enchanted forest, a witch and her beloved cat lived in harmony. This cat, once a small stray, was taken in by the witch and granted an extended life through magic, becoming her most trusted familiar. The two shared many years together, guiding lost souls, warding off evil spirits, and keeping the balance between the mortal world and the supernatural.

But one fateful night, a terrible curse befell the village. A vengeful spirit, angered by the witch’s interference in its dark dealings, unleashed a wave of necrotic energy that consumed everything in its wake. The witch, desperate to save her companion, cast a final spell—a desperate, imperfect resurrection. The curse took her life, but her cat, though dead, remained in a strange, undead form.

With no master to guide it and memories fading like whispers in the wind, the skeletal feline wandered the land, searching for a purpose. Its skull, adorned with ghostly cat ears, is the last remnant of the familiar it once was. The soft glow in its hollow eyes flickers with echoes of its past, and though it does not age, it still retains some habits of a living cat—chasing phantom mice, curling up in warm places, and even purring in the presence of kind souls.

Over time, it began to collect scraps of clothing, mimicking the ways of the living, trying to fit into the world that no longer recognized it. It wears a collar, though the name tag is too worn to read. Some say it still seeks its lost master, hoping to find the remnants of the magic that once tethered them together. Others believe it has become a guardian of the forgotten, watching over lost souls just as the witch once did.

However, one mystery remains—sometimes, in the dead of night, villagers claim to hear a soft voice calling its name. Whether it is the witch’s lingering presence or something far more ominous is unknown. But one thing is certain—Neko Nocturne is never truly alone in the shadows.
