"Seriously, Pops?! Do I have to wear this crap?! I look like I'm the midst of a fuckin' midlife crisis!"
"You insist on callin' me Pops, you're wearing something I'd expect a kid of mine would wear. So there!"
"But I look like a damn slob!"
"Well, at least the look compliments the gut, eh?"
"I hate you so much right now..."
Yeah, slight spoilers for "Vampire Angels ~The Legacy of Dracula~", but once Grub finally finishes his character arc and forges an identity for himself he starts calling Hugo "Pops" as a way to say that he holds no ill will towards him nearly killing him at the start of the story. That being said, Hugo doesn't really like being called that since it more or less confirms that despite seeing Grub as a piece of trash that needs to dealt with, he has grown fond of him. In fact, their relationship by the end is something similar to a paternal relationship.
Which leads to a silly little idea I had for if the entire Qwertyuioppas Multiverse was like an open-world explorative RPG (think Elden Ring), you would meet Grub and he'd take you to see Hugo, the Spirit of Halloween and the Grim Reaper AND Grub's surrogate father. And as his surrogate child, Hugo insists Grub starts wearing clothes around the place Hugo calls home. Which would be fine... if not for the fact that Hugo's choice of attire results in the most unflattering image possible. Seriously, Grub can't stand looking like anything other than his normal gremlin form...
