The orphans all marveled at the huge shiny red balloon hanging over their nursery in the shape of a heart, as outside, their hosts tended to their own four children. The manor was done up gaily with pretty pink hearts in lace decor and soft classical music filled the home piped through several gramophones.
"Alright guys, are you ready to celebrate V Day? Mommy & I are going out later to Neptune's Palace, but we wanted to make sure you kids had a blast first. Here's valentines for you, and you, and you son, and you, my sweet girl. Along with mommy, will you be my valentine, my pretty Henri?" James gave an expensive candy-filled heart to each of his three sons and daughter, sharing a blushing nuzzle with his girl and handing her a sweet little card from him & her mom plus extras & a single red rose. "You can still ask a boy you like to be yours as well, honey. & all of you, my dear boys. Everyone gets extra valentines to give away." James hugged, cuddled and smooched all of his kids as they came in to thank him and loved on him, he watched happily as they hugged and clung to his wife and her gown, she was dressed up nicely in a beautiful red dress while he wore a red tux and enormous bow tie. The parents bent to kiss their children, who clamored about them happily and talked to each other and ate their chocolates from the hearts their parents had presented to them.
"Of course I will be, papa. You're the best boy there is." Henrietta gushed, her arms about James's muscled neck, he grinned sweetly and his wife clasped her hands, touched at the sight.
"Gee thanks dad, momma. May we go give these to girls we like?" The couple's eldest boy Bruce asked, his brother Simon nodding as his other brother Martin was content to cuddle with their parents, Lonely snuggling him close to her.
"Of course, son. Have fun, you guys. Oh hey, there he is now! Cupid, thank you for coming!" James lifted his top hat in hello to a young angel of his own species who'd just arrived dressed as the legendary god, the youth sported a shiny red arrow in the shape of a sharp heart and James & Lonely's four kids all gasped and followed Cupid in fascination, as from afar on the stairs, James held his wife close by her curvy waist and felt her lean into him fondly as the two watched their four with the orphans, who were now in a huge ruckus seeing the figure aiming the arrow at the big red heart balloon overhead. Cupid released the arrow and the huge shiny heart balloon popped, showering the now squealing and running orphans in a rain of chocolates, candies and little valentines cards. The couple watched with moved pride as their four children excitedly ran about with the orphans as the goodies fell about them, catching some and sharing with the hyper children.
"Oh dear. Tonight is going to be a challange, I can just sense it. Milord, your coach to Neptune's Palace is ready. Milady, milord, your coats." James's butler donned the couple in their fine outerwear and James tipped and thanked Luke.
"Luke, would you like me to summon Annette to help you with the little ones? Aren't they darling?" James chortled fondly, calling the children's nanny on his magic mirror to which she agreed to aid his staff. "She's on her way." James assured.
"Oh thank heavens. Your children are never any trouble, sir. The orphans though, especially little Tom...eh." Luke bit his nail nervously.
"They're just overexcited, poor little dears. Here Luke, please give this to Annette for me, and for you and the other staff." James tipped Luke well in addition to hefting a fat sack of coins in Luke's grasp, which Luke struggled to hold up. Lonely nodded eagerly looking touched, thinking fondly of all the children but not wishing to interrupt her husband.
"Ahh, yes sir. You and Lady LightningSword enjoy your seafood."
"Thank you, take care. Alfred good man, drive on, please!" James called, Lonely waved her hankerchief and called to Luke as the couple pulled out, and Luke saw through the window as they faded off down the dirt road that the couple was excitedly exchanging nosegays and huge ornate valentines hearts, all sealed with a deep kiss as the two made their way to the lavish night James had planned for his cherished wife.
