Oh, man, I haven't done a full sci-fi story in a while. I should revisit that setting.
I also have to disagree with that quote. At least for creation. If you force yourself to work when you're not in a creative mood, it can lead to burn out. Speaking from experience on that one.
The key is to learn to get back into that mood, not push through others.

Heh, I was feeling something of the same in regards to the quote, or rather a mixed feeling.
I believe there is definitely a measure of truth to it, but I'm also in agreement with you in regards to forcing it.
It isn't going to write (or draw, paint, sculpt, code, design, etc.) itself, but if you're really just not feeling it and try to force it, it might do you good and help you break through, or it could damage what willpower you do still have for it, however "drained" it might be at the moment.
Sometimes things just gotta "click."
When it comes to this stuff, I reckon it's, at minimum, a two-sided coin. And it's probably more like at least a d20. XD
Maybe I'm just trying to rationalize my own current slump.

Not untrue. Sometimes I do just have to open the document and try and it will flow, but if I'm not feeling it after about 20 minutes, no amount of forcing will make the words appear. At least not with anything I'd be even remotely satisfied with sharing.
I probably won't be doing this particular challenge prompt, but it does make me realize it's been some months since I did a full sci-fi story, so I should try to develop another one soon. And thanks for the kind words. ^_^ I hope you can get through your slump.

This is SUPER late but it took a lot of research to get the translation right.
