Only if Taran can afford to. Suzocon can’t afford to lose either Brand or Eyestone now. And given how powerful said “rat” is, I don’t think Taran would be able to focus on that slip of the tongue if he gets into a fight with him. All Brand has to do afterwards is pretends that Taran misheard them.
Besides, shouldn’t Taran have noticed that “Saida” has been missing for at least more than 24 hours? That doesn’t exactly make for an observant brother if they hadn’t realised that someone supposedly important to both him and the quetz as a whole is MIA, especially after what happened when the real Saida had been imprisoned by dragons.

The front half of that device is pretty obvious. It's a lightning catcher. And it has to be connected to something that can deliver a bunch of nasty right back.
Even worse, this isn't Suzocon-sama's first rodeo with the quetz, but this is the first time Taran has dealt with a kitsune. Calling Suzocon a "lil rat with extra tails" betrays a level of baka that's probably making Suzocon roll his eyes.

Oh, never said that it would just send back the attack. The crystals are, my guess, there to absorb the energy from the lightning and charge a ranged weapon to fire back at him. Uses the power of his attack indirectly, to charge a counterattack.
He's had a long time to study the flow of energy and how to direct it since he last fought the quetz, if I'm correct about who he really is.

She's the strongest offense they got and the ONE thing that probably can feed Suzocon his own tails. Sending Taran-ouji instead with no backup indicates they're all derping over there.
Or maybe she just figured he was expendable. He certainly has not the faintest idea who he's dealing with.

He kind of is the general of the quetz, from what I gather. You're absolutely right: That's why Vetra isn't there backing him up.
He also seems to be far too big of a ditz to realize exactly what he is facing. Dismissing something with equal power to him as a "lil rat with extra tails" betrays an ignorance that probably is about to bite him right in the ass. The fact that the 'rat' is also an Arcane Artificer just makes his blithe dismissal even dumber. I'm a broken record about it, but I've faced that class in D&D campaigns, and they are utter bastards unless you got one of your own.
He's gonna get his shades knocked off.

That depends on if Suzo takes the Shock Jockey arriving first as an insult, or a novelty. He's not going to use his full power on someone unworthy. But if he feels insulted, all bets are off. (And honestly, now that hte machien is working, there's not much stopping him from "accidentally" unaliving Brand as well. So we should probably hope he decides he doesn't need to use his giant goodbye cannon or whatever yet. Because once that's truly operational, our heroes (such as they are) will all have officially oerstayed their welcomes AND their existences!
Really, it isn't that complicated. Suzocon seems to follow theee basic rules:
Everything on his island is his, without exception.
You fire on him, he promptly unalives you.
You cease to be useful to him, he makes you useful, or simply unalives you.
He already has his shrine defenses up. But they look like they will only activate if his shrine is fired on by Prince Shock Jockey. He doesn't care much for insults, but he also is very hard to bait.
It's Taran-ouji 's move. Let's see what Prince baka does next.

By the kami I feel sorry for Burando-san here. He's caught directly between two angry demigods and has absolutely no way out until the fight begins.
Prediction: Taran-ouji tries to smite "that lil rat with extra tails" and gets a whole faceful of unpleasantness in return. So he grabs "Saida" rather than engage an extended fight and books. While the actual Saida-hime is busy looking for Roko elsewhere...
She better hope this turns into an actual throwdown or they're both gonna be thoroughly hosed.

Suzo would be more likely to "Accidentally" Blast Brand in that case, to tie up loose ends. He can't risk the idiot dragon giving the game away with a careless statement, AND he doesn't really need him alive anymore. Plus the fact that general Shock Jockey really isn't a match for him, so it all comes down to whether or not Suzo takes it as a major insult or not that Vetra sent a lackey to face him.
ETA: Kinda reminds me of the confrontation between Shiromori (White Tree Demon) and Lewis from animated Mystery Skulls. The two Big Bads of the series, weapons drawn and ready to throw down... but then Shiromori decides she has bigger fish to fry and promptly retreats. Lewis, who desperately wants to fry the same fish, goes after HER. And when they both get to their targets all hell breaks loose, with a poor mortal caught in the middle.
Considering that Reverb actually managed to turn a full blooded kyuubi no kitsune into a tatarigami, they're going to need everyone, including Lewis. They are in amazingly deep shit and I look forward to seeing how they heck they free Shinpi (Mystery) from Reverb. That's their one shot at survival, otherwise Satsujin jiken no nazo is going to eat the lot of them.
My prediction up top is that Prince Shock Jockey is going to try and smite "the rat," and get a face full of nastiness in return when the shrine defenses kick in. Since he's *ahem* in a hurry, he'd probably just grab Brand, head home, and let Vetra deal with him. Suzocon won't care about him hauling off "Saida." Her usefulness to him is at an end anyway. It just leaves him one less loose end to tie up.
He'll have bigger things to worry about soon enough anyway. Queen Vetra is a whole different beast - a full fledged deity. Unlike Prince Baka, she's already force-fed him his tails once. She probably knows exactly what Suzocon is, and is not going to screw around.

Oh yes. Well at least he would if he's able to, assuming the defenses don't capture him... But yes that's true about lord Suzocon
Very true. (Oh damn, he might've been the Puppetmaster, bringing objects to life as a part of his plans or experiments! o.o) And she definitely isn't, unlike her son here

My guess is that he was the Puppetmancer. Compare:

That's either a hell of a red herring, or a straight-up tell. And it's quite obvious this isn't the first time he's gone mano-a-mano with the quetz.

Yeah looking back at that page I noticed what look to be two tails, and now comparing it to that ominous shot of him there...
And honestly doing something like what the puppet master did would probably be enough to earn him a tail, and fans have been speculating he was the puppet master ever since we saw Miyo's soulless body

The fact that he's obsessed with bringing lifeless things to life is another big clue. He tried puppets. They failed miserably. So now he's experimenting with poor Miyo to see if he can later make much-harder-to-detect meat puppets. I dunno if that's the story, but it makes sense.
Very true, and yeah, that's what my thoughts were. Started out bringing life to lifeless objects and now he's trying to create life itself. Though thinking about it now it might be best not to think too hard about how he might've accomplished the former... (ie, taking living souls and placing them in inanimate objects to bring them to life, which he might've done as an experiment as far as we know)
