Due to the current US administration, the rights of marginalized groups such as those in the LGBTQ+ community are under threat.
This piece is a protest piece against those efforts to remove established rights, and a call to those in the LGBTQ+ community that their love and their rights are important, and that we should all be fighting to protect them.

Are you just purposely being a trolling asshole, or are you genuinely that clueless about the current state of things in the US? Every day the Republican administration is repealing old legislation and passing new laws with the end goal of making it so that anyone outside of the evangelical christian view of "normal" can be arrested, deported, or executed. It even goes beyond just the usual LGBTQ+ community, and also threatens all women and visible minorities too. This has nothing to do with who's rich or poor, or who loves who. It has everything to do with the people who took power and want to eliminate anyone they deem unworthy.

As someone marooned in that godforsaken craphole country, the LGTBQ+ community isn't under threat. It's under ATTACK. A relentless, ongoing campaign of targeted cultural and sexual orientation genocide going on right now, with trans and queer people being the primary focus at the moment. After 50 years of gains in acceptance and inclusion in American culture and society, it's all disappearing by the day. But it's more than just anti-LGTBQ legislation that's being written now. Now conservatives are targeting sites on the Internet, wiping mentions and achievements of trans people (and women) especially, and even targeting physical monuments vis a vis the National Park Service ( [url]https://kevinmlevin.substack.com/p/.....KbCnpvcjPNhIAXfSLUcgKg&triedRedirect=true[\url] ), to say nothing of the bigotry and hate that's become normalized in this society. The America that you and the rest of the world previously knew is gone now, mate. What's taking its place now can only be described as the New Guilded Age Third American Reich, and I, personally, see a very dark future ahead of blood, violence and death ahead as this country tears itself apart again. That is, if pestilence and plague doesn't decimate the population before then, that is. Never mind that there are massive outbreaks of TB in KS, or measles in TX, the incompetence and destruction of the agencies charged with safeguarding the public health will ensure that the next out-of-control pandemic will make the Great Coronavirus Outbreak of 2019 look like a minor inconvenience by comparison!

Exactly. Truly, the US is in a sorry state lately, and that is bad news for all of us if things continue this way. The fact that the National Park Service has removed references to trans people is a betrayal to the very people who were instrumental in Stonewall and securing rights for LGBTQ+ folks, and the removal of now long-established rights is frankly disgusting.
This whole effing country disgusts and repulses me! And the NPS is just one. NASA is another one that's been ordered to drop its use of preferred pronouns now, as well as scrubbing all mentions of diversity, equality, inclusion and accessibility from its website. Of course, LGTBQ+ people aren't being targeted. I can't tell you how grateful, privileged and thankful I feel at having my kid in Canadian education, where being DEI is considered just being Canadian. As this ignorant POS POTUS works on destroying the Department of Education and turning out the next generation of morons, I sleep better knowing that he's learning and growing in a country that values education and the pursuit of knowledge.

Not to mention all the cuts and firings made in departments charged with safekeeping the country's health, right in the face of rising diseases. More kids in Texas caught measles recently - a disease considered conquered in the US in 2000 - than there are trans athletes. Guess which one this country is attacking? Hint: it ain't the highly communicable disease. Funny how you don't see any of this ignorant idiocy in Canada, do you?
