Kevin and Ken Elyran are the founders of not only the now-defunct Elyran Telephone Company, but also of Elyran Telecommunications. As twins, they share a lot of interests: synthesizers, progressive rock, synthpop, new wave, Italo Disco, spacesynth, audiophilia, autos, and of course, telephony and computers. Kevin is
older than Ken by only 10 minutes, and while Kevin is more subdued in appearance, Ken is a bit bolder in his appearance, and shows some pansexual tendencies. Rather than disowning Ken, his father Derrick embraced Ken's pansexuality, and agreed to keep it a secret amongst the family and Ken's friends, in order to avoid criticism and condemnation from his classmates. Ken came out of the closet in 1962, shortly after he and Kevin graduated from high school. In private, Ken particularly enjoys wearing his second mother Caitlyn's faux fur stoles and coats, an obsession that stems from when he and Kevin were born.

Kevin's and Ken's friends include the families of Konokama, Muramasa, and Fairborn. At the weddings of Kevin and Lara Elyran and of Jon and Elena Fairborn in 1972, Ken served as the best man, and in 1974, Ken married Lara's twin sister Lana. In 1978, Ken was chosen to be Rin and Michelle's godfather. In 1979, Ken not only became the godfather of Zevarius Elyran-Kerensky, but also the biological father of Mika Elyran, and the adoptive father of sergal Ian Elyran. In 1985, Ken and Kevin agreed to move Elyran Telecom headquarters to a newly constructed business park funded by the Fairborn family, thereby neighboring with Fairborn Aerospace and longtime corporate ally Konokama Technology Incorporated, known informally as KonoTech. This business park was officially opened as SJK Corporation in 1986.

From 1995 to 2009, Kevin and Ken were among the lead hackers for the mission to execute Marcellus Simonson, who had been committing various high-tech hate crimes against the Muramasa and Konokama families. Kevin and Ken were awarded a Medal of Honor by Lord Tyrone Fairfield for their superlative work in breaching the weakly-built security systems set up by Marcellus's cohorts.

In 2010, Ken assisted with the preparations of the wedding of Rin, Elly, Zarana, Alisha, and Boshi, contributing to the elaborate floral arrangements, and embroidering the tapestries for both the Elyran and Fairborn families. Kevin contributed by mass-producing public invitations to both the wedding and the reception. Since 2017, Kevin is a loving grandfather to Michael, Mary, and Nikolai Elyran, and likewise, Ken enjoys being their great uncle. At over 80 years old, Kevin and Ken remain quite youthful.
