So after over a decade of using GIMP as my main drawing software, I decided to give Krita a try and IT IS AMAZING. I've been having a blast messing with the brush dynamics. I'm hoping the 3.0 release of GIMP fixes the acceleration detection issues, but I think I've got a new favorite software. This is the first test portrait and I feel like I've improved my line work for hair. I also found a new way to shade irises that I really like.
The rough sketch had him with more human-like lips but I decided to pivot towards more catlike and I feel that was a good choice. I've also softened his jaw a little and reduced his cheekbones so he looks a little less handsome squidward. Still working on the rendering but I couldn't wait to post this as it was.
