Job Search Tip 42 Remix: Reach Out to Your Network
It is tough times right now. In the past two weeks, entire industries have collapsed (e.g., affirmative action planning, DEI). If you are a professional, reach out to your friends and colleagues and check in on them. Being in a profession means being part of a community. Do what you can to support others during these chaotic times.
PS: Reinforcing your connections now may help if you find yourself without a job in the future.
Best of luck out there 🍀

Edwin, an anthropomorphic jackrabbit, is wearing a business casual outfit and has a grumpy expression on his face. He gives job searching tips by speaking directly to the reader using a dialogue bubble. Edwin says,
"Networking is a viable, and for some industries critical, way to find job opportunities. Jobs found through networking almost always speed up the process, whether it is getting your application to the top of the stack, skipping the skills assessment, or landing you a job offer. Just know there is luck involved. It is easy to spend too much time networking."

Yup! I'm in a new industry now, but when I worked in restaurants, if you knew someone in another kitchen who could vouch for you, you were pretty much guaranteed a job. So, rather than waiting a week or two and hoping to get hired, it was usually only a couple days, and I was in with no problem. Many did it for me, and I did it for others. ^^
And of course, if you're going to school or know friends going to school in related fields to yours, make friends within those groups. Most importantly, keep in touch! You never know where y'all will end up in the future and need a hand.

So true. This is a reason I suggest starting an annual newsletter (either holiday or new years). That way you keep a touch point with the person and it is way easier to reconnect if something comes up (i.e., they know what you have been up to).
Plus it helps you preserve your friendships 🦄 🌈
