I decided a while ago to bring Lionel and Yenene into the Chakat universe as an alternate reality where they move from one of the non aligned worlds to Chakona where Yenene does not need to pretend to be Lionel's slave anymore and they can be openly be a couple. I figure they met under similar circumstances on a colony world where Lionel was a trader on a business trip where he was saved by Yenene (possibly a wolf-like native of that world, too primitive at the moment of first contact to resist their world being colonised by humans, but some still living free in the wildernis.) Yenene being more inquisitive and intelligent has traveled off-world with Lionel before to see other worlds out there, but as Lionel resents that Yenene has to keep pretending to be his slave they decide to move to Federation controlled space, chosing Chakona as their new home where morphs and aliens have complete freedom and where them being a couple does not stand out. Lionel will end up working in the transportation business while Yenene takes on some part time jobs while studying to become a teacher and cub minder eventually. As it turns out Yenene's kind happens to be remarkably compatible with humans so they will be parents in that universe as well.
