It's not something you see often, but there are a few. I ended up making mine after spending too long with the Play-As-A-Dragon mod. (If I'm a dragon, who am I? Where did I come from? Why am I fighting Alduin?)
The main drawback is that if you learn enough about the lore to construct a lore-compatible dovah, you'll start to empathise with them more, e.g. that they've always been persecuted by the Akaviri, that the dragon cults started out nice, that they are generally open to cutting deals with mortals, and that critically, they don't reproduce - so running around destroying them body and soul is kind of like shooting up the T-Rex in Tomb Raider. While the dov aren't exactly good, and their actions aren't helping themselves, with the exception of Alduin, I don't think they're evil enough to merit the extermination program that the Blades are encouraging.
This is a drawback because it changes your outlook when replaying the game.
