Hybrid physiology is a fascinating thing. Two sides of different coins fused into a singular being. The effects of such mixing is documented to an extent, in the form of low libido and appetite. Even resulting in a lack of feeling and empathy, or the desire to experience one feeling more than all else.

But what about in a deeper level? What if the balance of herbivore and carnivore genes shifted, a mutation develops. A dormant signal from the early days of youth, suddenly fired up and ready to make its host bigger. Natural growth spurts. Fine for a teenager, complicated for an adult. Even more so for an adult with twice as much growing to do as others.

Melon’s carnivore side desires to be big and strong as its namesake is renowned for. But his herbivore side refuses to be oppressed by his carnivore side, pushing for more growth to avoid being consumed by a carnivore. Nature at its finest. But contained within the same body? A feedback loop is created, one that sees Melon inching taller by the day, as the Shishigumi are slowly starting to realise…
