12th out of 24 at the Lovebyte 2025 Text Graphics Compo (February 15, 2025)Right at the end of 2024, I was invited to join the Text Graphics Compo at Lovebyte 2025 whenever I could, and so I drafted this bite-sized depiction of nature. The competition required all participants to create and submit textmode art in any dimension as long as it consisted of 256 text characters or fewer. For this, I went with a 16×16-character image and tried out doing something in an 8×8 font since the competition allowed for it. Then, when the submission deadline came closer, I furnished my image with more detail and submitted it. The work is unsigned because the "Blind Date" theme of the party meant that every compo entry at the party would be presented and judged anonymously.
In the end, I scored 12th out of 24, which still means I placed within the top 50% of the entry pool even if I didn't "win", and it was in any case a compo stacked with incredible entries. It was a fun little experiment to try either way, and I look forward to doing it again!
