Nathan's gotten his share of scars over the years. It's how it goes as a realmwalker. First, he was stabbed in the liver with a switchblade while rescuing Dawn, in late 2008. That one is the one with the owlfeather tattoo over it.

Then there were the bear slash scars on his face that he got fighting a bear on Kaerwyn. I don't remember quite when I started getting those added to the art, but the event itself happened around August 2014 IRL.

And then most recently, he got shot three times when in a jam on another adventure while protecting his adopted sons, and those wounds scarred over too.

And reflecting on it...he'd do it all again if he had to. Because when he signed up to be a devout of Athene, he took the honor and valor and wisdom part seriously, even if Athene herself doesn't. It's just who he is.
