"Alison Crestmere" was eventually revealed to be a lie created by Lillith. She really is Amara.

actually she was Amara, and later when it was proven that Nova Roma was not real, but a faux paradise created by Selene. They found out that Amara was actually Alison, and she was of european decent. hence the Crestmere. Selene plucked people from all over the world and used her magic to brainwash them and create a false illusion of times past that she held dear.

but I just reread a lil and apparently its still unclear as to whether the Alison Identity is the real one or the Amara is. She doesn't know and the creators haven't expressed which is. Honestly though, she has the appearance of a british Alison rather than a south american Amara but that doens't mean anything these days

Claremont clarified that the "Alison" identity was the false one, created in hopes of separating Amara from her loved ones forever. It -was- confirmed that her dad was British, though. But Nova Roma is real. ;)
