Mmmm, love it! Would love to see some shots of the phosphorescence on a big ol' horizontal output or damper tube in a big old color TV <3
Is the bluish vertical streak an artifact of your photography technique, or is the tube gassy? From what I recall, phosphorescence is supposed to be on the glass walls, not in around the guts.

The 'tab' on the left lower part of the tube has a nice blue glow, almost like a natural gas flame.
The vertical light reflection was me doing a fast 'light paint' with a Mag Light that's been modded with a high flux LED to bring out the ZENITH brand marking.

From what I remember reading, and i could be wrong, if it's almost a UV-ish glow on the glass walls, its a normal function of tubes handling a lot of power, but if it's in around the circuitry, it's a gassy tube, it may work but who knows for how long, it could also be comsuming more power? Your radio expert friend would know more than me, I'm digging back to memories of an ooooold TV self-repair guidebook and would be mis-remembering. Still, it's got to look wonderful. ^^
