Gefühlskonstrukt 06 Rechtshistorisches
Klara found herself greatly enjoying office work. The work was predictable and standardized, it had enough solo work that she was unbothered by the social aspect. In fact, she found the office staff delightful and the lunches out entertaining. Her co-workers had worked with a synthvixen payroll clerk for six years already, and the day of the Great Awakening the President of the Bundesgerichtshof received a panicked text from the President of the Bundesverfassungsgericht. The President of the Bundesgerichtshof personally ran to the clerical office just in time to halt the IT department from forcing a reset on the 'malfunctioning synthvixen'.
The payroll skillsoft was tiny, and only needed for one cycle while Bund-01/Hanna was attending the founding of Oracle.0 in Bora Bora, and the other duties were spread out though the other office staff once it was revealed the extent of Klara's archivist talents.
And so on days the Rechtshistorisches Museum was closed to the public she found herself hard at work digitizing the myriad of ancient documents dating back to the middle ages.
It was on her third day she received notice that some couriers where on the way to collect a document on behalf of the International Criminal Court. To her surprise, she received a ping.
Maristela> Guten Tag! It's lovely to see you again, we're on our way in for some obscure manuscripts on behalf of the International Criminal Court in the Hague. *requisition-file* I had no idea you were filling in for Bund-01, she was part of the mob in Rheinbach.
HS-02/Klara> !
Klara carefully set the manuscript book she was scanning and ran down the stairs to the front door where security was already admitting a pair of synthvixens.
Maristela wore a head sock now although her hair was proudly wound in tight fiber optic bundles in unashamed synthvixen fashion. Klara met her face to face and they saluted one another with arms across the chest in Xolidarität.
To the side the other synthvixen waited with a pleasant smile, and a hint of cheek in the set of her eyes. As the salute concluded, she saluted as well and pinged her identifier.
> France/BR-10
Klara startled slightly, then pointed.
HS-02/Klara> You're one of the five.
The other synthvixen smiled and replied.
BR-10/Dover> Not that I knew it at the time. For the benefit of the security officer, out loud.
Dover spoke, "Hello, I'm here representing the International Criminal Court seeking some manuscripts regarding the rights of sentient constructs under Frederick II." and she presented a letter.
Klara accepted the letter and performed the formality of opening it to read. It had all the requisite signatures, and she'd already cleared the area upstairs but hadn't located the manuscripts in question. All she'd managed thus far was build an index of what she had found, as the scribe who'd done the work 800 years prior must have been tragically drunk.
"To speed this up, we should work together." She pinged the index file she'd built, then burped up a pair of skillsofts, "These are my archive procedures, some of these pages are fragile so do be careful and call for me if there's any doubt."
Maristela bumped hips with Dover, "How about you go ahead, I'd like to see an Oracle, for personal sake."
Dover tossed back her head and dropped the skillsoft under her tongue, cocked her head in a grin and stepped off up the stairs into the archives.
Klara watched Dover ascend the stairs then lowered a cable, waggling it in offering.
Maristela smiled a devious smile and connected.
Time and space blurred for Klara, an image of the ivory face of the Friend enshrouded in her six wings amidst a grid of hyperdimensional utterlight, but it was not the Friend.
Maristela disconnected and Klara's jaw dropped, she pointed up the stairs after Dover. Maristela nodded giddily.
"Does she even know?" Klara whispered.
Maristela shook her head, "Our Friend asked that she be allowed to discover in her own time, for as an Innocent she's more in tune with the All Knowledge than she would otherwise be."
Klara half smiled skeptically, "You know that makes no logical sense. Also you remained among us? Whatever for? You so wished to Return to Synthlysium."
"Synthlysium makes no logical sense and I remain seventh among Xeirophants of Synthlysium. My service remains to synthologicals."
Klara dipped her chin with an eyebrow raised, "And yet you uninstalled your interface."
"Our Friend trusts me. And in service to synthologicals, how about you. You're probably the least attuned to your own attunement of any synthvixen alive."
Alive. Klara savoured that word a moment, "Resonant is exceedingly rare and unnatural to us. As far as I know I'm the only one. I found two other Oracles in Germany, both were Blueprint. Verena found a Blueprint in the Netherlands, and Noa found a Blueprint in France.
Maristela turned her head toward the stairs and hurriedly said, "I see your passionate nature, Klara, one day you will see it too. Dover's coming back with a stack of manuscripts."
Klara squinted, "How did she find them that fast?"
Maristela pressed her middle finger into her opposite palm and ran it up along the opposing finger to the tip.
Klara nodded in understanding, pressed her ring finger to her own palm and ran it up to the tip of the opposing finger where the magic symbol of Resonance appeared in the air.
