Snakes are kinda like the animal form of taking care of a houseplant, haha. 🖤 A houseplant can't really 'love' you back either, but when you love them, it's enough for you to take care of them and watch them be healthy and happy and beautiful.
But I understand people prefering dogs or cats. I love those too.

As a snake owner, I didn't know I could love her even more!! They get such a bad rap, and I never realized how, uh, many things people had to say and feel until I got one. My folks wanted me to get rid of my Kenshi if we had kids. He's a 3ft ball python. The worst he can do is get a little too excited come dinnertime. The bites are really not that bad, and I'm genuinely more scared of hamster bites much more than a snake's. My mom is also terrified of snakes, so I didn't get one until after I moved out.
She's also 100% right, it's just nice to see something thrive on your hard work. It feels so nice knowing you made a nice little home for something you care about. And I do think snakes will get used to certain people, and have their own preferences. When I learned snakes can see blues and greens the best, I got my boy a bunch of (fake) green plants and blue flowers :3 For me, building the enclosure is half the fun of keeping fish and reptiles, haha!

Hehe thank you!! They really are sweet pets, I tend to get new plants whenever I go to the craft store and will switch out/cycle decorations every couple of months. Same with my bearded dragon! He doesn't care as much as the snake, but the snake loves checking out all the new stuff. My beardie gets to try new foods more often, so it evens out, I think. I love my scaly boys<3
