On Kaerwyn, there is an occasional plot device known as the Wishing Pool. Manifesting randomly in the playable area, (although often invisible when it does so), it will grant the wishes of any character nearby who makes a wish, even if they do so unintentionally. Just saying "I Wish" is enough. However, such wishes are always granted in a...twisted, unusual way. While the results are almost never dangerous and wear off eventually, they're often frustrating or annoying, and more experienced characters often try to avoid the pool whenever it appears. Which is why it often manifests invisibly.

Kaga, however, was not one of those who was familiar with it. During a late January cold snap, she and Richard were in the tavern, when Kaga, who is very uncomfortable in the cold, wishes she could handle the cold better, and was immediately transformed into an anthro leopard seal. As the pool was hidden away where it couldn't be seen, the other characters didn't twig to what was happening right away.

After a few other missteps, Richard got frustrated and said "I wish you wouldn't toy with me like this", and was immediately transformed into a plush hawk.

Looks like Kaga took him to the pool later for some seal balancing tricks. Not sure he's too enthused about it; plushes take on SO MUCH WATER!
