So just so you know, when Half-dragons get pregnant, they have a choice in my world. Once they are near the 2nd trimester, half-dragons can have a live birth or lay eggs.
If they decide to have a natural birth, they will get all the issues of normal pregnancy. But after childbirth, their draconic blood will help them lose the weight and regain their former body before the pregnancy. Their breast may or may not stay large once they do not need to breastfeed anymore. (Luck of the draw for some)
The other option for half-dragons is to lay eggs, the egg will form once laid and magically grow to the average baby size. The mother will lay her egg or eggs around the 27th to 28th week. The eggs will act like a normal womb for the baby for 13 weeks and soon hatch. The baby will have their horns fully grown, but a bit lighter and softer until hardened by the magic in the air, and yes, the baby will have a belly button.
The positives of egg birth for the mother are not having to go through the struggles of regular pregnancy of morning sickness, and more. The downside is that it is considered that the mother or father must always keep the eggs warm by their body heat since no other heat could compare to the mother's or father's.
Kiada went with egg birth so she could still do her work and often has a "egg carrier" on her back or a small nest next to her with her tail wrapped around the eggs while she works. being pregnant and doing a live birth would have made things difficult since it tends to keep her Father's spending habits in check, and organizing her father's library of magical tomes of new spells coming in monthly.
