Have you seen or read dungeon meshi? It's an anime/manga where a group of dungeon adventurers go on a mission to save one of their mates, and since they don't have the money for food they have to eat the monsters that they defeat in the dungeon. This kinda reminded me of that :p

Oooh, interesting! If that gecko was in dungeon meshi then they would definetly eat it (I don't mean to be rude, sorry if I come off like that).
I recommend dungeon meshi, it's really good, among other things it has a great character and creature design. Though to appreciate that aspect better it may be better to read the manga
