Ahh it was only a matter of time before I could not resist seeing myself in your work. I've had a lot of pleasure seeing these abstract & evocative pieces from you. This one in particular guts me. If you'll excuse my projection, I would argue that there is some catharsis to be had at the bottom of the ocean. "Ashes to ashes, dust do dust." Can't have your "Carpe Diem" without your "Memento Mori." Or so I think. Not so many, I've find, agree. The cult of happiness, the Happy Happy Cult, if you will- has a death grip on the collective consciousness. Even the thrumming vibrations of guilt or shame like "why can't I just be happy" are byproducts of it. It's maddening! Knowing that I can immerse so deep down & find reason to come back up & the will to live resides within me, & explore what has intrinsic value to me no matter how cold or sad it is makes me feel greater for it.
Whatever your own feelings are, that you seek to express here- the fear, the depth, the crushing, the many visceral feelings I get when looking into it, I'm appreciative that you share your art as you have done.
