A smaller detail about linneans is the effect of 'Thrill' as its known. Thrill is a physiological response to life-threatening stress, be it drowning, space exposure, combat, etc.

When a linnean is under the effect of thrill, their eyes begin to blacken, as shown here. Repeated exposure to the effect can cause a staining of the eyes, eventually a linnean may have been exposed so much that their eyes are permanently blackened. Kei'Woh, 'White Eyes" is seen as either a mark of great wealth and prestige, or of cowardice, having stained eyes is normal for the overwhelming majority of linnean males, so being on the extremes can be used to clear or bring one under suspicion of violent criminality.

Brainwaves are brought to extraordinarily high frequencies, in the synaptic chaos, lower level thoughts are drowned out. This significantly affects cognition, memory weakens while aggression rises as the speed of thought increases, to a linnean, they say they can see the world slow and blur around them, bit by bit.

The effect on the body and mental processes is immediate, and grows more intense as time goes on. In combat it isn't unheard of for linneans to fail to distinguish friend and foe as facial recognition begins to decline. In extreme cases, prolonged exposure and buildup of thrill can even lead to neural fatigue, brain damage, and death.

In this way one of the primary heavyweight species in the galaxy becomes remarkably fast, to the point that those fighting them find it surreal. While some linneans as the grip of thrill grows more intense, detrimental effects can be seen. To keep up with one in melee for even a minute is a mark of great skill.
