Pul'Que are strange creatures, more common in the western side of the galaxy. They are unpredictable, deceitful, and dangerous by nature, able to adapt and evolve to any situation. They are commonly found as pirates, mercenaries, assassins and criminals. They are rarely found as bounty hunters, unlike other warlike species, as they have little desire or respect for ideas like justice or morality.
Where all other species in the galaxy have converged into a DNA genetic carrier, the Pul'Que utilize THRNA, a vastly more unstable, tri-helical carrier that contains exponentially more information. Its advantage was that cells using THRNA needed significantly less energy and time to reproduce, which allowed organisms using it to rapidly regenerate from wounds, at the cost of long term survival.
The instability of THRNA was so intense that it caused the development of organelles within their cells that actively maintain their genetic sequence. Throughout their evolution it was found these organelles could be manipulated hormonally to change their genetic sequences. The Medulla Bothrolla, an organ which carries a library of sequences and physiological responses, was the advancement that allowed the Pul'Que to evolve throughout the course of a single lifetime.
For example, a Pul'Que who found themselves underwater often would begin to see their gene sequences changed, due to the rapid turnover rate of their cells, they could form gills within days or weeks of entering their new environment. Two genetic twins, if separated from birth in different environments and returned to each other, would come back genetically distinct, to the point that it they'd seem unrelated. With the advent of technology this feature has grown far more advanced, injections of various stimulants, combat drugs, and hormones allow them to shape their evolution mid combat, making them an utter wildcard.
This means kinship and family are weak ties for the Pul'Que, and their society is built around chains of dominance and submission. Its tyrannical, with the dominating unit of society being the septs. A sept is similar to a family, but is built around unique genetic traits that are closely guarded, and implanted into those who enter it. The Pul'Que Despotate, their home nation, is a splintered series of dominions controlled by the various septs, ruled by Autarchs, in a constant state of competition and evolution.
Tenquo Vizhthuun is a mercenary, a rarer profession for a Pul'Que to undertake, serving as hired muscle for the Martian Syndicate. His missions often have him clashing with forces from the Confederated Nations of Earth, as seen here, with his unique biology allowing him to undertake missions and adapt to locations all across the solar system.
Naturally, he has no opinion of either the Syndicate or the CNE, no care for their causes or justifications, only about the money that he's paid, and the ease with which he can make it.
