Age: 13 years
Race: half-breed (50% Shaati, 50% human)
Tribe: Blackfoot Cats (South)
Weapon: broad sword
Abilities: Golem Spirit
The only shaati capable of crossing the Desert thanks to his unique blessing. The “golem spirit” plunges the wearer into a state similar to suspended animation, almost stopping all vital processes of the body, while endowing the body with almost complete immunity to external influences. The wearer is greatly slowed down, but does not lose the ability to move.
His mother was a Shaati of the Blackfoot Cat tribe, and his father was one of the first colonists of the Southern Belt, who arrived by ship from Caenor. The southern Shaati, who had never met people before, mistook them for gods, arranging for them a heavenly life. And in return, the researchers taught their admirers the wonders of science and technology.
When Tobu is ten years old, a second ship arrives on the tribe's lands with a dozen fugitive bandits on board. They behave defiantly and aggressively, becoming "evil gods" for the local Shaati, and are banished into the jungle. Seeing a half-breed boy walking alone, the bandits realize that they are not the first people in the South, and kidnap him to find out where their "good gods" live. Tobu endures sophisticated torture, but does not give up his father.
Exhausted and exhausted, he notices the peyote cactus balls collected by the bandits, which they threw into the fire for the intoxicating smoke, and decides to take a risk, undergoing initiation five years ahead of schedule. Having dipped his fingers in the poisonous pulp of the ritual cactus, Tobu manages to draw two short stripes on his cheeks, after which he is tortured again.
Realizing that they can't get anything out of the boy, the bandits decide to get rid of him by hanging him from a tree. When Tobu starts to choke and lose consciousness, he receives his blessing - "Golem Spirit". Having entered a trance, he pretends to be dead and waits until all the villains fall asleep. Deep in the night, Tobu frees himself from the noose and does not run away, but takes a heavy sword from one of the sleeping bandits and kills them all to the last one.
The hilt of Tobu's trophy sword is decorated with a rag doll of a kitten on a long string, which ironically resembles a hanged man. Thanks to this attribute and everything that happened, the nickname Hangman is firmly attached to Tobu.
