CBN Special Report #7 - "Thirty Miles from Baghdad."
Six months in, and Thirty Miles from Baghdad.Reported by Ava A. Chapman
Written by Haris D. WittworsIt's been almost half a year since the beginning of the "Second Iraqi War." Also called Operation Restore Democracy by the Coalition forces currently invading the nation of Iraq. Or as its full name is, The New Iraqi Rebuplic after a new administration took over in the late two-thousands. Regardless of naming or current ruling power, the Coalition forces responsible for the swift, yet slow invasion of Iraq now sit only thirty miles from the heart of this newly born nation. Members of the First Shock Force of the CIN Armed Forces along with Marines from the United States First Marine Division sit alongside Highway One, which leads from the coastal city of Basrah, all the way north through Baghdad and ending in Mosul. Though as far as the current battle plan for the Coalition is concerned, Mosul or any northern city or province is not the primary target, as the sights of the coalition's war effort are firmly set on the capital city, and the dictator or so-called leader of Iraq, Abbud Bagheri.
Abbud Bagheri and his cabinet of generals, ministers, and similar dictators of his type have been marked by the major four nations of the Coalition as illegitimate governing bodies, and international terrorists. For those not informed, the big four of the Coalition are as follows - The United States of America, The Combined Isle Nation, The United Kingdom, and the French Republic. The Coalition's plans for Iraq are to overthrow the current governing body and replace it with a more free and non-dictator-like government more friendly to Western ideals. However, this plan has been criticized by other nations most notably Russia, China, Iran, and even members of the UN who have shown their disapproval of the ongoing war between the Iraqi nation and Coalition forces. In a statement to the UN Council Dictator Abbud Bagheri had this to say, - "The western vultures have once again circled our poor and crippled nation, they come as conquers, not liberators. All I ask of this council is to end this useless war, as all I am guilty of, is caring for one's own nation." This trimmed-down version of his full statement comes after the Fall of Basrah, a key coastal city in Iraq, which had been taken by Coalition forces on day three of the invasion.
While Abbud Bagheri has been banned from the Un Center in New York, it hasn't stopped his forces, or cabinet from continuing the fight against Coalition forces. As Reported by Ava Chapman on the ground and embedded with Coalition forces, the push more northward to the capital has slowed to a devastating crawl. As stated by Reporter Chapman herself. "US and CIN forces have delayed and even pushed back in certain parts of Iraq, as Coalition forces start to push deeper into these so-called defensive lines as members of the Shock Division have been calling it." Before her report landed back to us, she had been warned by military personnel that her life was at risk due to the growing hostilities in the region. She had interviewed troops, both US and CIN. As shown in the image she had taken, of a CIN Shock Troop armed with a German-made MG3 on the side of Highway One. She had questioned a few of the troopers about the ongoing struggle to gain ground, here's one response from Senior Specialist Richards of the First Shock Division of Regiment C. "The further we push, the more they start to get desperate, or ya know, fight like scum bags. Just the other day I heard Regiment B had two of their tanks taken out from some normal-looking civilian car that had been packed with hundreds of pounds worth of explosives. Driving down the high and then - boom! Two tanks were taken out with twenty injured and eight dead." The trooper had told our reporter. "It's one thing after another, you think somethings safe, then it ain't. Then your looking under tables, chairs or anything for that matter to make sure it ain't trapped." Trooper Richards added. As stated previously by Chapman, the closer Coalition forces have gotten to Baghdad, the fiercer the resistance has gotten. Whether that's minefields, insurgent forces, or urban warfare. The push to baghdad has been halted only Thirty miles out. Other Articles by Haris D. Wittwors.
