Fun with Fantastic Forms (feat. the Dijkstra's)
Although Harm and his siblings are usually all biped anthros (and his husband Vojek as well), thanks to Harm's magic they aren't limited to that form. And with much experimenting, each of them found their favourite alternative form.
Harm is very fond of the long neck dragon taur form. This form makes him enormous and strong, and allows him to explore large swathes of land. But moreover, his large body is also a conduit for magic, allowing him to cast more powerful spells. However, this form is only practical outdoors, in rural areas, where he has enough space around him, and it doesn't allow him to get close to any Wellsprings, which are usually located inside buildings or even underground.
Vojek still prefers his hand-taur form, as he's very familiar with the form during his youth on Atlantis. He has spent a lot of time in this form at his Mechalocheri foster family, who took him in after his parents unfortunate fatal trip to their home planet Carbin. Even though he's technically an alien, he feels a close bond to the Mechalocheri community, and this form is a reminder that he belongs to Earth.
Roel prefers to stay "normal", but if there is one form he had to pick over any other form, it would be a four-armed naga. The long tail makes him feel one with the earth below him, more than his hard hooves ever could, and the extra pair of arms he finds quite practical, without becoming too confusing for his mind to handle (which is why he picks a form without legs, so he doesn't have to spend any mental effort on that). He has rarely taken on this form or any other alternative form, though.
Lotte has always felt that she's a taur soul trapped inside a biped body. She hangs out with a lot of taur friends and has a deep desire to become one. Eventually, Harm's magic helps her to try out the form temporarily, and see how she likes it, though she made a deal with her parents that she can't make the change permanent until she's 18, in case she may have regrets. It took time for her to get used to the form, but eventually, she feels very comfortable in this form.

I've got a few more questions regarding the Pioneer Universe...
First, you mention the UN Space Force in one of your earlier stories. Then you mention the terrain fleet. What's with that?
Second, regarding your latest story. I know it was more of a military affair, but shouldn't it have been the leaders at the UN to make the decision on Wether or not certain people could enter?
Third, with the Badmiral: You already mention that the Pioneer's crew could take the issue involving the Fleet Admiral and his son to court. So, regarding the orignal reassignment, the Fleet Admiral could just do that to his son like that? With no reason? Or did he just make soemthin up? Or was it because he's the fleet admiral?

1. The UN Space Force and the Terran Fleet are two separate entities. While the UN Space Force is more like the "coast guard in space", mainly taking responsibility of managing and securing the Sol System itself, the Terran Fleet is the interstellar fleet.
2. Since the Terran Fleet is a separate entity, most of the decisions who enters and who doesn't is up to the Terran Fleet Admiralty itself, which set up the requirements and pass it on to the lower ranks.
3. So far, admiral Steiner has found excuses to enact retaliatory measures, and because he is the fleet admiral, he has the authority to do so. Not just to the Pioneer, but he's also quite strict towards the pride of the fleet, the Yorktown. Their commanding officers are also not too fond about him. He is playing a risky game, and he tries his best not to make all the meddling look too obvious, trying to maintain plausible deniability to avoid a court marshal. He's not well liked, yet the Terran Fleet can't afford to get rid of him just yet; during the Earth-Kentauros war, his strategic genius was instrumental to win the war. But there comes a point where he oversteps his privileges, and not even his accolades are going to save him. When that happens, it will not be nice for him...
