Fourth of a series of iterations on this Malea drawing, where I'll show all of the major checkpoints or detail levels you could expect from a commission from me.
This is roughly how I'd do a cel shaded commission. Admittedly, cel shading is still a bit of a weakness for me, I'm actually far more comfortable doing semi-realistic / full shading as it's been my focus for quite a long time now. But, I think I can still put together a pretty good cel shaded artwork. The shading would stay fairly simple in terms of complexity, just a couple levels of shadows and one highlight layer.
This would also be an end point for a commission, meaning that you couldn't upgrade a cel-shaded artwork to a full-shaded artwork, rather you'd have to choose only one style of shading to apply to a flat colored artwork. For me, switching shading styles would mean a complete redo from the flat color step, as my approach is completely different: I draw in shadows for cel-shading, but try and paint light with a full shaded piece. Full shading would be more expensive, but I don't see much of a point in offering a switch between the two.
Other iterations of this drawing below. Enjoy!
