Exchange Desk Clerk, Brain, and techno, 25 March 2025
techno attempting to get the department store to exchange its brain for a Sega Genesis. Not sure but I suspect the clerk is going to kick this up to the manager.
This is a piece that started with a basic amusing idea, the fun of bodies that do just fine without brains, and then putting a good bit of work into it. Largely from some good observations from techno about details and poses and all. Partly from rethinking and realizing that, like, the tentacles could do something interesting.
Putting all this time and thought, I would say, has improved the picture considerably --- a lot of small anatomy problems got fixed, for example, and interactions between, like, the clerk's hand and techno's brain improved. Under no circumstances will I learn anything from this experience.
I know that department store exchange desks have not looked like this since like 1986, but trust me, they used to. They used to ask you for reasons you were exchanging stuff, too, and sometimes you had to fill out a form. It was such a different world. You have no idea.
The store clerk here may be the most generic character I have yet drawn. You're not missing a reference to a backup feature in Atomic Fox #18 or some nonsense like that.
