I remember it was when I was still a kitten. I was really small, I could go under the table. Then the warming shift had already happened*. It was a hot summer day. The grass had dried out and turned yellow. However, the forest remained green and, surprisingly, had recovered from boreal sleep in a couple of years**. But that's not the point. We then decided to go into the forest to pick mushrooms. Since there is almost no forest around Pavny due to the dry climate, we had to go down along the river for 20 kilometers in order to reach the mountain forests. Here the forest was green, covered with young greenery. But the meadows had already dried out from the merciless light of the sun. There were few mushrooms in the forest - enough for a small basket. They do not like dry weather. In general, we examined the forest at one slope and went to the opposite one. We are walking along a dry field, the grass is prickly and suddenly I see a mushroom. Sticking right out of the grass. The cap is reddish, with a crimson tint, the stem is beige with a mesh. The size is like my head, maybe even bigger. And not a single worm. Overall, it's a great mushroom! And what do you think, did I catch it? No, to begin with, I shouted: "Mushroom! Mushroom." And only when grandma and grandpa came up did I finally pick my catch and raise it above my head like a sports trophy. By the way, the opposite forest was even less rich, only two shabby mushrooms. Well, when we were walking back, we met a couple of mushroom pickers who turned out to be much less lucky - they didn't have a single mushroom. Oh, you should have seen their envy! However, going into the forest for mushrooms right after the warming shift is a stupid idea. Here, the forest itself is more valuable as a place to rest from the dryness and dust typical of this time. And the mushrooms are just a nice bonus.
*Warming shift - transition from boreal (cold) to thermal (warm) period of the cycle. Accompanied by a sharp drying of the climate, dust storms, sharp temperature fluctuations and melting of permafrost, which at least somehow provides moisture in conditions of insufficient precipitation.
**Tay forests can "fall asleep" during the boreal (cold) period, showing virtually no activity.
I start a new series of art - "nostalgia" dedicated to processing my memories. I will also put some lore information about my world there.
